Amy Goodman, host of the award-winning news program Democracy Now! airing twice daily on KPOV, will speak in Bend Sunday, October 28, at noon at the Greenwood Playhouse, 148 NW Greenwood Avenue. Seating is limited and general admission tickets go on sale October 15; $25 for KPOV members, $30 for non-members.

Proceeds from An Intimate Afternoon with Amy Goodman will benefit KPOV.

Democracy Now!, KPOV’s most popular syndicated news program, airs Monday through Friday at 8am and at noon. Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez co-host this independent, global news hour (democracynow.org) on over 450 stations in North America.

Goodman will examine how people are organizing, the impact of new voter ID laws that make it harder to vote and how the massive influx of campaign cash following the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision is changing how democracy works. Bend is one of over 100 cities that Amy Goodman is going to on a two-month tour, which includes promotion of a new book, The Silenced Majority, co-authored with Denis Moynihan.

KPOV is a listener-supported, volunteer-powered community radio station that broadcasts at 88.9 FM and live on the Web, kpov.org. High Desert Community Radio offers locally-produced programs not heard on any other radio stations in the area, including civic affairs, extensive coverage of local and statewide elections and the most diverse music programming in Central Oregon.
