Annual Chili Feed, Bake Sale & Raffle at the Deschutes Historical Museum

The Deschutes Historical Museum invites the public to its Annual Chili Feed, Bake Sale & Raffle event on November 13-14 from 10am to 4pm. Millie’s Chili, cooked with locally raised Barley Beef, is served from 11am to 2:30pm.

The event is a family affair dedicated to supporting the mission of the Deschutes County Historical Society. Over thirty years ago, DCHS member Millie Chopp, looking for a way to help support the society, volunteered to make her chili at the fall fundraising luncheon. Today, Millie’s Chili is prepared by her daughter, Mary Sue Penhollow, and cooked with Barley Beef of Rastovich Farms, donated by Millie’s nephew, Rob Rastovich.

Rastovich Farms is one of the oldest working farms in the county, homesteaded by George Rastovich, Millie’s father, in 1919.

The Bake Sale is a one of-a-kind, old fashioned bake sale with some of the best home bakers in the county donating goodies from family recipes. Cookies, breads, jams and preserves are among the wonderful items generously donated each year. You do not want to miss out!

Raffle items include overnight stay-cations, gift certificates for local restaurants and stores, private exhibit tours, and more. Raffle tickets are 6 for $5.00 or 25 for $20 and can be purchased starting November 10. Prizes will be drawn and announced November 14.
