Antiques In The Park Bigger Than Ever

ae weeklyTreasures galore will be primed for the pickin’ this weekend for the second annual Sisters collectible show at Creekside Park July 21 – 22. Story by Jeff Spry

The festival is also a special salute to our American veterans and the sacrifices they’ve made.

Bad Boys BBQ will be cooking up some spicy food for lunch and Wild Mountain Smoothies provides a cool, tangy dessert as the classic ‘50s and ‘60s tunes of Tony Madrigal rock on all afternoon.

This year is bigger than ever, with nearly 50 vendors stocked with gems of yesteryear: from heirloom furniture, vintage postcards and glassware to rare artwork and old bicycles, antique jewelry and nostalgic sports cards and movie memorabilia. New this year is Bronze Star Comics, selling old collector superhero comics like Fantastic Four, Avengers, Hulk and Batman.

“It’s like a trip down memory lane,” said organizer Richard Esterman. “This is one of my favorite shows of the season. There’s a big tradition of an antique fair in Sisters over the past several years. You get history and live music and great food all in one beautiful spot. The VFW and American Legion will be on hand with the Military Parents of Sisters. It fits right in to Sisters. This is a historic western town and it’s a perfect summer outing.”

Esterman will be setting up his odd 1930’s Spectra Chrome machine seen on Antiques Roadshow.
“It was a weird, mystical device invented to cure cancer and all severe diseases,” he explained. “It’s based on lights shining on your body and the solar system and star alignment. I’ll have it on display and it’s just a real cool looking thing.”

Antiques In The Park runs Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-4, located at Highway 20 and Jefferson Street. For more info call 541-420-0279.
