Art Auction Benefits Families Facing Financial Burdens Due to Cancer

bpositiveJoin the first great party of the year on Saturday, January 26 when the Bpositiv Charity Art Auction celebrates its ninth birthday at McMenamins Old St. Francis School.

The free fundraising event runs from 5pm-10pm and all ages are welcome. It’s a rewarding, magical evening of art, wine, food and music to support the angelic deeds delivered by Daniel and Talya Pite. Their beneficent Bpositiv Foundation helps to support the financial burdens of Oregon families facing terminal cancer diagnosis for their child.

Bpositiv has become an illuminating force, with hundreds of creative minds donating artistic gems in every medium imaginable to help fight the many ravages of disease through the unconquerable efficiency of love and art.

In February 2003, the Pites’ young daughter, Hannah, was diagnosed with a rare form of terminal childhood leukemia. The annual auction’s humble beginnings blossomed from the soothing need to celebrate after two grueling years of treatment, and to share a revelation of life with the Bend community that had supported them so well. On the eve of Hannah’s sixth birthday, the first Bpositiv Charity Art Auction was held, with the shining guest of honor painting, dancing and laughing her way long into the night.

This year’s event offers an incredible array of silent auction tables ripe with artisan jewelry, leather goods, paintings, ceramics, nature photography, vintage comics, leather goods and donated surprises of every incarnation.

The Pites invite everyone out for a fun, enriching evening in Father Luke’s Room at McMenamins at 700 NW Bond St. in downtown Bend. For more information call 541-390-7684 or visit them online at www.bpositiv.org.
