California & Montreal Guitar Trios Strum the Stage

towerRare Joint Appearance by Six Guitar Virtuosos

Prepare for an astounding evening of wide-ranging instrumental music from classical to jazz, pop to surf rock when both the California and the Montreal Guitar Trios take the Tower stage on Friday, April 27 at 7:30pm. This rare six-by-6-string event features two virtuoso groups performing separately and together, with intricate original compositions and breathtaking blends of acoustic and electric guitar wizardry.
The California Guitar Trio is Bert Lams, Hideyo Moriya and Paul Richards. Since the group’s inception in 1991, they’ve released 13 CDs, opened for King Crimson, and played music to wake the astronauts aboard NASA shuttle Endeavor. The Los Angeles Times called these Breedlove Guitar artists “winning, energetic and highly accessible.”

Bend’s Breedlove Guitars is donating a handmade guitar to be raffled during the concert to benefit the Tower’s LessonPLAN (Performing Live Arts Now) educational programming.

The Canadian Broadcasting Company praised the Montreal Guitar Trio as “the hottest guitar ensemble in Canada.” Glenn Levesque, Marc Morin and Sebastien Dufour have established themselves as eclectic, energetic, and passionate virtuosos. The trio—known in shorthand as MG3—has bridged world music and exotic melodies with a stealthy sense of humor, charming the ears of many seasoned critics along the way.
