The Redmond Community Concert Association (RCCA) is pleased to welcome Canadian clarinetist and comedian, Christopher Hall and The Comic Quartet, for two performances at Ridgeview High School’s Performing Arts Theatre on Sunday, November 4. In this delightful, laughter filled chamber music concert, he will demystify the rather formal world of chamber music. Audiences will enjoy select classics from the quintet repertoire as well as the often hilarious anecdotes behind the music.
Christopher Hall, former principal clarinetist with the Orchestre Métropolitain in Montréal, found work in the orchestra far too serious. Since he was constantly joking around with his fellow orchestra musicians, he decided to combine his two talents and perform both as a clarinetist and a stand-up comedian. During his shows, he probes such important questions as, “What exactly is a musician thinking while he is playing?” and “Do you really even need a conductor?” His answers are both insightful and uplifting.
Hall has appeared as a guest soloist and comic with many orchestras throughout Canada. In addition to performing with orchestras, he also contributes to various television and radio shows in English and French. He has appeared in such prestigious comedy festivals as the Just for Laughs, The Winnipeg Comedy Fest and the Grand Rire in Quebec City, and has opened for several prominent American comedians.
In addition to bringing extraordinary musical performers to Central Oregon, RCCA is particularly committed to exposing our youth to the value and excitement of learning from these enthusiastic professionals. On Monday following the concerts, Mr. Hall will be sharing his musical and comedy genius with a group of elementary school students from Redmond. RCCA, an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization, has been bringing a wide variety of outstanding musical talent from around the U.S. and the world to our community since 1983.
Tickets for the 2pm and 6:30pm performances, sold via season subscription only, are sold out.
