Deschutes Children’s Foundation Kicks Off 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Annual Art & Wine Auction presented by Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company

The Art & Wine Auction will be held Saturday, May 2 at the Riverhouse Convention Center. The event is Deschutes Children’s Foundation’s largest fundraising event. All proceeds will provide 26 child and family nonprofit agencies, including KIDS Center, Healthy Beginnings and Family Access Network with rent free office and classroom space and no cost facility management at four community campuses in Deschutes County.

2015 marks Deschutes Children’s Foundation’s 25th anniversary of promoting a community of services. Throughout the year, the organization will be sharing their story and thanking the partners, donors, and friends who have helped achieve this milestone. The 25th Anniversary is sponsored by Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company.

The Art & Wine Auction will feature artwork from local artists including this year’s Signature Artist, Ingrid Lustig’s original painting, “Sun Hawk.” Ingrid donated a beautiful portrait of a red tail hawk to DCF’s 2013 auction that caused an impressive bidding war. DCF is honored to feature Ingrid’s generous donation at this year’s event (Sun Hawk) as well as works by Lisa and Lori Lubbesmeyer, Cindy Briggs, Barbara Slater, Mary Marquiss, and Lise Hoffman-McCabe.

The Bend High Culinary Program returns this year to create the dessert dash. The students are creating a delicious array of sweet treats and have dedicated much thought, time and talent to this project, using butter and cream donated by Eberhard’s Dairy. Foley Family Vineyards is providing wine for the dinner and will also be pouring tastes during the silent auction along with Grocery Outlet, Merrill Cellars, and sparkling wine from the Victorian Café. But it’s not just wine! Bigfoot Beverages is donating a wide variety of beers and ciders, and Deschutes Brewery and two of Bend’s newest breweries – Bridge 99 Brewery and Oblivion Brewing Co. – will also be present.

“We’re so grateful for the local artist and business communities that support us so generously at the Art & Wine Auction,” said Amy Ward, Deschutes Children’s Foundation’s Development Director. “We are proud to feature the stunning works of talented local artists. Many local businesses support us through live and silent auction donations – there are many fun packages at different price levels so it’s easy for everyone to find something special.

“As we look back on our growth over the past 25 years, the Art & Wine Auction has been tremendous in sustaining our mission. We share this success with the sponsors, artists, businesses, donors, and volunteers who join us each year with enthusiasm and generosity,” said Kim McNamer, Executive Director.

Tickets for the Annual Art & Wine Auction, presented by Kirby Nagelhout Construction Company and sponsored by SELCO Community Credit Union, Les Schwab Tires, Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, Umpqua Bank, Knife River, and Smart Solutions are $100 each. Since 1990, Deschutes Children’s Foundation has managed collaborative community campuses and partnered with nonprofit agencies that serve children and families. DCF provides these partners with rent free office and classroom space at four community campuses in Bend, Redmond, and La Pine. As a benefit of this partnership, these nonprofits save over $650,000 each year while serving over 20,000 of Deschutes County’s most vulnerable children and families.
