Central Oregon’s Largest Food Festival Brings ‘Beats to the Bite’ in Downtown Bend June 19-21

The 2015 Bite of Bend is excited to announce the festival’s music stage lineup including headliners THE THERMALS (Fri. June 19 @ 8:30pm) and COMMON KINGS (Sat. June 20 @ 8:30pm). All concerts are free and open to the public.

The Thermals are a post-pop-punk trio from pre-Portlandia-Portland, Oregon. The band was formed in 2002 and has since released five records and toured 15 countries. They have toured with Death Cab for Cutie, Cursive and Ladyfinger, and Hutch and Kathy organized the first Bright Eyes show in Portland way back in 1999. The Thermals are most famous for turning down $50,000 from Hummer, discovering the elusive fourth chord in punk rock (F#m) and for soundtracking that scene in Weeds where Mary-Louise Parker jumps in the pot-filled pool in her underwear.

Common Kings recently finished performing as opener in Justin Timberlake’s critically acclaimed, sold-out international “The 20/20 Experience Tour.” The group will jet into Bend for their only Oregon performance this summer, fresh off a show with Steel Pulse at Sierra Nevada World Music Festival in Mendocino, California.

Common Kings’ style and music is a collection of inspirations orchestrated into an array of head rocking beats, feel good vibes, and emotional fever. Their crazy, fun-loving attitude compliments Common Kings’ live sound, producing phenomenal pop hits with rock, reggae, and R&B influences. The majority of Common Kings were born in the South Pacific, and raised in Orange County, California pulling early influence from Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Jim Croce, Michael Jackson, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Gypsy Kings, Earth Wind and Fire, Bob Marley and more. The culmination of these musicians explains exactly who the Common Kings are.

Also taking the Bite of Bend stage will be Elektrapod, Woebegone, Franchot Tone and more for a total of 12 music performances throughout the weekend.
