A varied feast for lovers of great choral music will be served up at “Let My Love Be Heard,” the annual fall concert by the Central Oregon Mastersingers. The event will mark the ensemble’s opening concert of the 2019-2020 season.

Composer Jake Runestad’s gentle “Let My Love Be Heard,” a modern acapella work based on the poem, “A Prayer,” by 19th-Century British composer, Alfred Noyes, not only provides the theme for this musical event, but also is one of the centerpieces of this two-day concert.

A kaleidoscope of music set within the broader “Let My Love Be Heard” framework also will be performed. Selections run the gamut from an ancient French drinking song through an English madrigal, an arrangement of a traditional South African song, classical works from Claudio Monteverdi, Johannes Brahms and Anton Bruckner, the Cole Porter classic, “In the Still of the Night,” plus the rousing and emotional spiritual, “Ain’t No Grave Can Hold My Body Down.”

The Mastersingers’ “Let My Love Be Heard” will be presented at Nativity Lutheran Church in an evening performance October 12, at 7:30 pm, and in a matinee performance Oct. 13, at 3:00 pm. Nativity Lutheran Church is located at 60850 Brosterhous Road, in southeast Bend.

Tickets are $20 available at https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?ticketing=comsi and also will be available at the door. Students are free with ID.
