Always an audience favorite, this concert will feature the winners of the Central Oregon Symphony Association Young Artist Competition. Bookending these performances will be two staples of the orchestral repertoire. The concert will commence with Beethoven’s dramatic and powerful Overture to Egmont and conclude with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 2. With this later work, subtitled “Little Russian,” Tchaikovsky captures the musical essence of the region known as Little Russia (now Ukraine), and has filled the work with folk songs from the area.
