Vultures play a very important ecological role by recycling carrion, reducing the spread of some diseases and helping to control pests. Leland Brown, Oregon Zoo’s non-lead hunting education coordinator, will present information about vultures and lead poisoning at a table in the Bird of Prey Pavilion and talk about these topics during the 3:30 bird of prey encounter. Celebrate International Vulture Awareness Day and learn more about these intriguing scavenger species!
