The Shakespeare in the Park series returns to Bend and Sunriver August 21-23 with three brilliant performances of one of the Bard’s earliest plays and perhaps his most farcical comedy, The Comedy of Errors. The cast from Portland’s Northwest Classical Theatre Company will take the stage in Drake Park in Bend on August 21 and 22, and again at the SHARC Amphitheater in Sunriver on August 23. The Comedy of Errors hinges on the ripe premise of identical twins separated at birth whose paths cross to knee-slapping effect. The 1988 film Big Business, starring Bette Midler and Lily Tomlin, is based on this story. Puns, word play, and slap-stick humor come together to create one of the world’s most entertaining and wild stories of mistaken identity.
