The City of Sisters and the Deschutes County Historical Landmarks commission are hosting a “Sisters and Camp Polk” Tour on Thursday May 19, 2016 as part of the celebration of Historical Preservation Month 2016.

The tour is from 9:30 am -12:30 pm on Thursday May 19th and begins at Sisters City Hall, where a traveling informational display about Historical Preservation in Deschutes County will be presented.  This display will be up in the lobby of Sisters City Hall for one week, from May 19- May 26, 2016.

This special guided tour will start with a history walk around the City of Sisters and then proceed to Camp Polk to tour the camp and homestead site as well as the CampPolk Cemetery.

Participants will explore the special historicalplaces in the town of Sisters and also the scenic meadow and sites at Camp Polk. Participants will discover what brought the early settlers to this part of the county.

It is a moderate 2-3 mile walk.  Attendees must provide their own transportation from Sisters to Camp Polk.  Bring lunch/snack, water and sturdy walking shoes.  Please dress for the weather.
