Once Upon a Time in Oregon: A Story Across Decades by Rebecca Hom is a story of two Oregon pioneers, Ing Hay and Lung On, influential individuals in Grant Country during the 19th and 20th centuries. They were owners of Kam Wah Chung & Co, and their civic and civil commitment to residents of the area helped calm troubled times in the 1800’s.

Rebecca Hom has been an adventuring storyteller for 25 years and has offered presentations on regional Chinese history to a wide range of audiences. This program weaves together Hom’s personal experience in John Day with a historical context of Chinese in Oregon and the importance of Kam Wah Chung. This program is part of the Oregon Historical Society’s Chinese Oregon Speaker Series.
