Actors Realm/Volcanic Theatre Announces Second ARK Workshop Workshops to Develop Literacy Through Drama and Introduce Beginning Acting Techniques
By popular demand The Actors Realm/Volcanic Theatre (AR/VT) announces its second Actors Realm Kids (ARK) workshop beginning January 21 at The Safe Room, 1005 NW Galveston (Above The Westside Bakery) Suite 225.
ARK is for children 8-12 and will be taught by professionally trained actress and elementary school teacher Jeanne Sitter and AR/VT founder Derek Sitter. Jeanne obtained an M.F.A. in Acting from Louisiana State University and currently teaches third and fourth grades in Redmond.
The workshop is designed to teach literacy through drama and introduce beginning acting techniques for stage and the camera. Theatre games, reader’s theatre, and character exercises, and on-camera work will improve fluency (including accuracy and expression), and develop comprehension, confidence, and artistic expression.
The workshop begins Saturday, January 21 and concludes Saturday, February 11. The workshop is from 2-4pm each Saturday. Cost is $75. Registration begins January 1 and is limited to 8 students.
Derek Sitter is the founder of AR/VT and has taught acting for over twenty years. He is a Life member of the Actors Studio and continues to work professionally as a an actor, director, and instructor in film, television, and theatre. Some past credits include E.R., Chicago Hope, Leverage, The Dead Boy, Fuddy Meers and The Zoo Story. He will be casting and directing several theatre, film and commercial productions in Central Oregon in the coming months.
