Wax up your skis, buckle your chaps and head to the hills as Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce presents Rodeo Day at Hoodoo Mountain Resort on Saturday, March 31 from 9am-9pm. Activities at this rollicking winter jamboree includes rides on the mechanical bull and a delicious chili cook-off with amateur chefs spooning out their favorite secret recipes to a hungry crowd and judges. This is also the last night for night skiing, taking place from 4-9pm. Take a final refreshing run down Hoodoo’s many challenging and casual trails under the stars and celebrate a successful season. Also taking place the same day is the thrilling Voodoo Rail Jam at Hoodoo, presented by Cakeatr. Registration starts at 11am. Competition begins at 1pm. Snowboarders: 1-2pm; Skiers: 2:30-4pm. Finals: 4-6pm.
“This is our Sixth Annual chili cook-off and we invite the public to enter and come on up and spend the day,” said Hoodoo office manager Brynne Beverly. “People check in at 9:30 and judging starts at noon. After the judges sample the contestant’s food, the whole public is invited to come up and taste the leftovers. First place prize is $50 and a trophy; we’re always looking for new chili chefs. The bull gets here at 9:30am and runs until about 3pm. The rest of the afternoon is just a fun, relaxed Western atmosphere. Come and enjoy early spring skiing and we’ve got over a ten-foot base of amazing snow. Rodeo Day is free and perfect for the whole family. We invite all snowboarders, skiers, sledders and guests to dress up in wild western costumes and colorful cowboy gear and get up to the mountains and have a blast with us.”
