SE Oregon Symposium for the Arts & Economic Development May 19, 20 in Burns, Oregon

The Harney County Arts in Education Foundation is developing a Performing Arts & Education Center for Harney County.  The Symposium is one more step forward in this process as we invite guests to share with us their success stories regarding arts and economic development in their communities.

The Oregon Arts Commission will organize the event.  Buck Johnston from Marfa Texas and Cinda Holt from the Montana Arts Council will present.

The Symposium will also include an annual ‘Evening to Celebrate the Arts’ which this year will showcase our talented youth in recital, dance and art display. The young musicians are all OSAA State Soloists and/or Sunriver Scholarship Recipients. The Steens Mountain Ballet Troupe will be performing and professional musician,  Megan Kartchner will perform on her grand concert harp.

Students from Burns and Crane High Schools will host an art show at the reception following the concert.  A special artisan tree is being designed to honor the Symposium and the gathering of artisans where everyone is encouraged to design a leaf for the tree.

In speaking with David about advertising – he mentioned that I should share with you about our event with the thought that you might have room for an article in you May edition.
