Music on the Green

Pack the lawn chairs, grab a blanket and join the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB for free live music as it hosts its 20th year of Music on the Green, presented by Bank of the Cascades and Eberhard’s Dairy.

One of Central Oregon’s longest-running free community concert series, Music on the Green will kick off its 2015 season at Sam Johnson Park on Wednesday, June 24 with music by Out of the Blue, a local 5 piece R & B dance cover band, entertaining us with cool sounds of Motown, rock and soulful blues.  It’s a style of music groove that makes you want to get up and shake it on any dance floor or grassy area.  Performances are scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. each evening.

Music on the Green will then continue every other Wednesday throughout the summer with five additional performances. The series will feature a diverse mix of music from country, rock, bluegrass and Motown, to fusion sounds that mix elements of pop, funk, jazz and blues.

The evening will kick off with readings from two members of WIP featuring poetry by Lettie Young from her indie-published collection Love Like Dead Skunk. Ted Bryant, author of Sporting Chance and Silverdale One will be discussing the art of villanelle construction.
Afterward, the mic will be open to the public for 3-5 minutes each until the end of the hour. Published members of WIP will be available to sign copies of their books. Admission is free and the public is welcome.

June 25, 2015 is KPOV 88.9 FM High Desert Community Radio’s 10th Anniversary. To celebrate 10 years serving Central Oregon, KPOV is throwing a 10th Anniversary Party, titled KPOV High Desert Community Radio, Live and in Living Color, June 30, 2015 at the Tower Theatre. Five Pint Mary, MOsley WOtta, the Dennis McGregor Band, Triage and the Around the Bend Players will headline the show.
