The Central Oregon Mastersingers, renowned for their artistic excellence and commitment to enriching Central Oregon’s cultural scene, are excited to present Music Down in My Soul! on Sunday, April 27, at 7pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Central Oregon. This evening concert celebrates the profound power of music and its ability to connect us across time and space.
Join the choir as they perform a captivating repertoire that spans centuries, from the timeless works of Orlando Gibbons to the vibrant spirituals of Moses Hogan and the folk brilliance of Bob Dylan. The program showcases music’s enduring power to inspire and unite.
A special highlight of the evening will be the presentation of Sacred Place by Alex Berko, who shares: “Sacred Place is an ecological service that connects the old with the new, the sacred with the secular, and the individual with their community. The outline of the work is a Jewish service. However, rather than Jewish prayers, the text is made up of various writers and thinkers who speak of the environment as a place of safety, comfort, and beauty. Written for SATB choir, piano, violin, and cello, the six-movement piece is at times a meditation and at times an impassioned prayer for the world we inhabit and share.”
The concert will also feature a haunting arrangement of Bob Dylan’s The Times, They Are a-Changin’, and Samuel Barber’s Agnus Dei, the composer’s own choral arrangement of his famous Adagio for Strings.
This event is free and open to the public, with a suggested donation of $20 to support the choir’s mission and future performances.
