The Around Oregon Annual exhibit is open to artists living in all parts of our state.  This exhibition recognizes the quality and diversity in creative expression of artists throughout Oregon. Our intent is to show young and upcoming, as well as mature and established artists together. The Around Oregon Annual also recognizes and encourages excellence by awarding cash prizes, thoughtfully selected from the actual work.

Notifications will be made on April 29, 2016


  • The exhibit is open to all artists living or working in Oregon; the work does not need to have “Oregon” as its subject matter.
  • All work must have been completed in the last two years.
  • All media, except music, film and performance, will be considered.
  • Work previously exhibited at The Arts Center will not be accepted or presented to the juror.


John Olbrantz, the Maribeth Collins Director of the Hallie Ford Museum at Willamette University serves as the 2016 Around Oregon Annual juror. He is a specialist in ancient (Roman) and American (contemporary) art. He was the director of the Bellevue Art Museum, WA (1976-1985), the San Jose Museum of Art, CA (1985-1987) and prior to the Hallie Ford Museum the director of the Whatcom Museum of History and Art for 11 years. Over the years Olbrantz has organized over 100 exhibitions of historical and contemporary art. In addition he has juried over 40 art competitions on the West Coast, lectured on a wide variety of art topics and published in the fields of ancient and contemporary art. He is the Chair of the Salem Public Art Commission. Some of his recent exhibits are Sherrie Wolf Objects Lessons and A Contemporary Bestiary.


The submission of digital images to this competition constitutes an agreement to all conditions set forth in the call-to-artists, including permission for reproduction on our website, general publicity in newspapers and magazines for promotional purposes.
