The 72-Hour Filmmaker Scramble challenges filmmakers to create original short films in just 72 hours based on a a surprise theme, action, or prop assignment. The Best Film as selected by the ScaleHouse Jury will then screen at the 12th Annual BendFilm Festival.

Today anyone with a quality camera phone is capable of making a film. In fact, a 2015 Sundance Award-winner shot his film entirely on an iPhone 6. All that is needed now is a great idea, a little guidance, and the wherewithal to see it through. The 72-hour Filmmaker Scramble format is perfect for the aspiring filmmaker who just needs a little push to jump into the filmmaking fray.

On June 11, all participants will receive the surprise theme assignment on which to base their film. The filmmaking team will have three days to conceive a story, find actors, design their production, shoot the story (on whatever camera format and audio recording device that best fits the aesthetic), and edit the final cut exactly 72 hours after receiving the theme. Experienced filmmakers (the Instructors) will be available to provide advice throughout the 3-day production period. Films due on June 14 at 8pm.

All entries will be screened in July (details to come) at a public event with the Best Film awarded.

Cost: $25.00 per individual or group entry (up to five people per group, please).
