Central Oregon Pride Celebrates 10 Years

prideSponsored by Human Dignity Coalition (HDC), Central Oregon’s 10th annual Pride is June 28, 12-6pm at Drake Park in Bend. Entertainment includes Poison Waters & Friends, Jeremiah Clark, Mosley Wotta and Jenni Peskin.

Planning Committee Chair Cliff Cook and his talented team have put together a celebration you will have to see to believe!

Entertainment:

  • The incredible Poison Waters & Friends will be at Pride for the first time, presenting a 100% family-friendly show.
  • Popular gay singer-songwriter Jeremiah Clark will be joining us from Portland.
  • Awesome singer and straight ally Noah Stroup will demonstrate how he recently won the GSA No Talent, Talent Show at COCC.
  • Do not miss Bend‘s Mosley Wotta, one of our most popular local bands.
  • Admire the multitalented Jenni Peskin and her Student Showcase.
  • Enjoy the many undulations of the Shape Shifter belly dancers.
  • The exciting, high-energy Strive Roots will soothe your soul, stimulate your mind, and rock your body.

Look for more than 40 vendors offering a variety of goods to tempt you.

New this year is the Kids Zone for the little ones! This is an enclosed area jam-packed with games and activities and staffed with two state-certified childcare providers to help out. Parents must remain to supervise their children.

Organizations provide important information:

Marriage Equality Recognition: To welcome and honor Central Oregon’s committed same-sex partners.  Recently married couples and long term couples will be recognized and honored.

Stonewall: To honor the 45th anniversary of the Stonewall Inn Riots in New York (June 28, 1969), Pride’s beer garden has been christened the Stonewall Lounge.  Beer, wine, Absolut Vodka cocktails, and Humm Kombucha (formerly Kombucha Mama) will be available for purchase.

OF SPECIAL INTEREST: Seattle-based Pride Foundation, one of the nation’s largest funders of LGBTQ nonprofits, has chosen Bend for its annual retreat. With board members, spouses, companions and staff attending, the DoubleTree Hotel will be alive with a buzz of LGBT meetings. (The Pride Foundation generously awarded HDC a $3,000 grant for operating expenses in 2014.)

Reception: HDC will be sponsoring a reception for the Pride Foundation on Friday night featuring tasty appetizers and a no-host bar 5pm to 7pm at Seven Restaurant & Nightclub.
