Central Oregon Locavore’s annual Purnima is a lavish feast and dance party featuring fragrant spices, alluring flavors, and the exotic music of Bollywood.

Purnima, “Night of the Full Moon,” celebrates the night with exotic elixirs from Dogwood Cabin’s head mistress, Phoebe Pedersen, sultry Bollywood beats by DJ Runi and DJ N8TURE, and hand-crafted Indian cuisine by Chef Runi of The Curry Shack.

Meals are served ala carte via small plates. Mix and match to your heart’s desire. Farmer sponsors include: Juniper Jungle Farm, Fields Farm, and White Diamond Ranch. These dishes will tickle your senses and delight the palate.

Samosa Chaat (Vegan): Two Samosas topped with a mildly spiced garbanzo bean curry, tamarind sauce and garnish. Gobi Manchurian (Vegan): Deep fried cauliflower florets, tossed in a unique sweet and sour sauce and topped with a savory crunch. An absolute favorite in the Streets of Mumbai! Vada Paav (Vegan) Indian potato sliders. Potato rolls (Vada) sandwiched between two square buns, served with red and green chutneys. Tandoori Wings: Chicken wings marinated in tandoori spices and tossed in a house made torpedo sauce. Kati Rolls: Soft rotis, with your choice of filling, in a wrap: Lamb vindaloo, Locally sourced lamb from White Diamond ranch, slow cooked with Indian spices or Meanie greenie, locally sourced veggies with traditional Indian spices. Naancho’s: Deep fried Naan bread chips, served with a spicy tomatillo chutney. Masala Dosa: Savory Indian pancakes with chutney. Gulab Jamun: Traditional sweet dessert. Fried dough balls in a sugar and cardamom.

Purnima benefits Central Oregon Locavore, a nonprofit organization that’s been promoting a local, sustainable food system in Central Oregon since 2010. Locavore is dedicated to improving access to fresh, in-season, nutrient-dense, local food and educating the community about the benefits of sustainably produced food from local farmers and ranchers. Proceeds from this event help promote a more ecologically and socially just food system, public health and diversification of the local economy.
