Based in Portland OR, The Weather Machine released its first full-length album after a blustery winter of recording on the Oregon Coast. With strong ties to the region, the 5-piece found its roots in the Pacific Northwest’s unique folk aesthetic, but has since developed hard-hitting, theatrical rock performance. The transformation is best exemplified in Tender Loving Empire’s 2013 B-side release of “Slow Dance Slow,” a song that begins as a ballad and ends as a drunken, waltzy cacophony.

The Portland Mercury compares The Weather Machine to The Kinks and Paul McCartney, while an Italian publication preferred Hey Marseilles as a reference. The truth? This band is hard to categorize… which is a big part of the appeal. Their high-energy live show has struck a chord with Northwestern audiences, resulting in sold out performances at Mississippi Studios and the Sisters Folk Festival, a featured performance at Bend’s Les Schwab Amphitheater, and two west coast tours. Their sophomore full-length album Peach will be available March 24th 2015.
