(Field of Flowers by Dan Custer)
As fall takes hold in Sunriver, we still see many visitors, both near and far. Sunriver in October is a great time to visit from Bend or Redmond with bikes to wander the paths and see our local wildlife before they head to winter grounds. It’s also a time to visit the various galleries in the area to view new art.
For animal lovers, there’s a unique opportunity to combine art and honoring your pets on October 4. Photography: Seven Points of View opens at Nancy McGrath Green Gallery. The diverse exhibition includes photographs of birds, wildlife predators and rodeo animals, among other genres. Following the gallery reception, Sunriver Christian Fellowship will hold its Blessing of the Animals in the church parking lot, next door to the Sunriver dog park. Meet the photographers from 11:15am-12:30pm in the gallery inside the church. Have your pet blessed any time between 1-3pm. The gallery will remain open during the blessings.
The Betty Gray Gallery at the Sunriver Lodge is also showing a new artist. Dan Custer is an American landscape painter whose work is inspired by the mountains, rivers, and forests of the American West. Raised in Montana, he studied fine art at the University of Montana before earning a degree in Visual Communications from the Art Institute of Seattle. Following successful careers in advertising, film, and industrial design, Dan returned to his lifelong passion for painting. Now based in western Montana, Dan draws daily inspiration from Glacier Country and the Northern Rockies, creating paintings that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with nature.
