Sisters Folk Festival Highlight of September

willyThe Sisters Folk Festival announces a fantastic line-up for the 2011 Festival.  The Sisters Folk Festival is a three-day celebration of American Roots music from blues to bluegrass. Held September 9, 10 & 11, the Festival will celebrate 16 years of world-class music in Sisters. This year’s performers bring an amazing array of musical talent diversity to the stage. Artists include legendary California troubadour Dave Alvin, Steve Forbert, Southern songwriter Mary Gauthier SFF fan favorites Willy Porter Martyn Joseph.
Additional confirmed acts are Chatham County Line, Tony Furtado B , Anais Mitchell, Joe Pug the Hundred Mile B , Rita Hosking Cousin Jack, Hoots Hellmouth, Cow Bop, Red Molly, JT the Clouds, Dala, Johnsmith, Sweet Talk Radio, Matt the Electrician, Hanz Araki B , Betty the Boy, Thad Beckman B , Shook Twins, Nathaniel Talbot B , Cahalen Morrison Eli West,  Willie Carmichael, the Anvil Blasters, Laura Curtis, Consider the Fox Heroes of Telemark.
The lineup this year is stronger than ever, has legendary performers mixed with musicians that hold a great deal of respect admiration everywhere they perform, but may not be household names.  Our goal is to introduce new artists to the Northwest, our Central Oregon audience, while bringing international artists of stature longst ing excellence in many genres of music, said Assistant Festival Director Travis Ehrenstrom.
The Dave Carter Memorial Song Writing Contest is held during the Festival. Finalists will perform during the weekend as they vie for a coveted slot in next year’s Festival.
Attracting thous s for the weekend, several years ago, the Festival began a Sustainability Program to act responsibly recycle, compost reuse the materials used during the event. In 2010, the Festival lowered its waste by 75 percent.
The Sisters Folk Festival highly encourages the $95 All-Event Pass for the weekend. Day Passes for Friday, Saturday Sunday are available at Paulina Springs of Sisters Redmond, FootZone of Bend the Sisters Folk Festival office.
Partnering with local businesses, schools community organizations, the Festival brings together music lovers of all ages, backgrounds beliefs for a magical three days full of old-favorites fresh music, delicious food, intriguing artisans leisurely walks between venues.
