What if your seat at a piano concert could be a paddleboard?
On Friday, September 11 at 5:30pm, pianist and composer Paula Dreyer, creator of Piano Flow Live, brings Riverside Piano Flow to Mirror Pond and Drake Park, inviting audiences to experience live piano music in one of Bend’s most beautiful landscapes. Audience members can listen from the water, the boardwalk or beneath the trees at Drake Park.
The most unusual option? Bring a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard and experience the concert from Mirror Pond itself.
Guests on the water will listen through wireless headphones while gently floating on Mirror Pond, surrounded by the river, trees, sky and mountains. Rather than simply looking out at the landscape from a concert seat, listeners can become part of it —drifting quietly on the water as live piano music unfolds around them.
“I love the idea that people can experience the piano from wherever they feel most connected to the landscape,” Dreyer said. “But there is something especially magical about being on the water. You’re not just watching a concert — you are floating inside the setting where the music is happening.”
For those who prefer to stay on land, guests can bring a blanket or chair to Drake Park, relax beneath the trees, or stroll along the riverfront while listening. Paula will perform at the Drake Park Amphitheatre.
Float, stroll or simply relax and listen. The choice is yours.
Dreyer created Piano Flow Live to move people through music. Her performances blend original piano music with beautiful surroundings to create peaceful, memorable experiences that encourage listeners to slow down, be present, and connect with their surroundings.
For Riverside Piano Flow, Mirror Pond isn’t simply a backdrop. It becomes part of the concert.
“Bend has this incredible river running right through the heart of town,” Dreyer said. “I wanted to create a concert where people could actually experience the music from the river itself.”
The result is an evening that can be experienced in many different ways: gently paddling on Mirror Pond, wandering along the riverfront, or simply settling into the park and letting the music and landscape unfold together.
Guests bringing watercraft should provide their own kayak, canoe or paddleboard.
