Filled with historic, cultural and artistic insight from fellow artists, friends and relatives who know Lillian best, this catalog is both intimate and scholarly and will stand as an important, lasting tribute to the life and works of one of Oregon’s most beloved Indigenous artists.

Edited by Anne Keala Kelly, it includes essays and perspectives by prominent Native contemporary artists, art historians and scholars, including Phillip Cash Cash, Rebecca Dobkins, Alfred “Bud” Lane III, Toma Villa, Donald J. Stastny (FAIA emeritus and Board of Directors, The Museum at Warm Springs) and Elizabeth Woody (The Museum at Warm Springs executive director, former Oregon Poet Laureate, and Lillian Pitt’s niece).

“The scope of my Aunty Lillian’s influence on the breadth of Indigenous Pacific artists, Native Americans and Polynesians reaches across oceans and generations… she transforms people into resourceful power and kindred forces before they know what has happened — as only tricksters, changemakers and creative artists can,” said Woody.

The majority of photographs in the catalog were shot by Dennis Maxwell with additional photos by Joe Cantrell. Maxwell and Cantrell are longtime friends of Pitt. The catalog was designed by DeeAnn Glazier, senior graphic designer at XPress Printing, Inc., in Sisters, Oregon.

Lillian Pitt: Art, Memory, Home” is currently on view at The Museum through Saturday, October 10, 2026.
