Song circles are a great way to practice basic skills, learn new songs and meet new people, says Johnson. “People should bring their music and an open mind,” she says. “Song circles are a hoot and help develop confidence and musical skills.”
Johnson has been teaching ukulele for over ten years. She currently does ukulele therapy for seniors at assisted-living homes, retirement homes and hospice facilities. For more than 30 years, Johnson has shared her passion for teaching, performing, magic and music as a children’s entertainer. During the beginning ukulele classes, people will learn basic strums, chords and a selection of songs. She has recently led four sessions of the “Uke Can Do It” classes at the Library.
