High Desert Chamber Music Offers Complimentary Tickets

Frank Almond matinee concert for all local music students in Central Oregon October 1 at Bend Church. Opening weekend concerts are brought to you by Neil Kelly with first performance Friday, September 30 at 7:30pm.

High Desert Chamber Music launches its 2016-17 season presented by Mission Building & Renovation, with the first concert featuring violinist Frank Almond. He will be joined by pianist Jeannie Yu in a performance of works from his recently completed follow-up recording to “A Violin’s Life – the Lipinski Stradivarius”.  While in Bend, Mr. Almond will be visiting and performing at Bend Senior High School. As a regular part of our Educational Outreach programs, we provide students of local schools with direct contact to the guest artists through performances and Q&A sessions.  This has been a great and rare opportunity for students to interact with the visiting professional musicians in an informal setting.

HDCM is happy to offer all music students of local Middle School and High Schools complimentary tickets to the matinee performance on Saturday, October 1, 2pm at Bend Church.  All interested students should have their music instructors contact the HDCM office to request tickets. Our goal is to expose young children to the highest levels of music performance, and cultivate an interest that can lead to a more fulfilling life by developing an appreciation for the performing arts.

Frank Almond is the Concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and holds two degrees from the Juilliard School. He is currently on the faculty as Artist/Teacher of Violin at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. He continues an active schedule of solo and chamber music performances in the US and abroad and has been a member of the chamber group An die Musik in New York City since 1997. He founded and directs the much-loved and somewhat notorious Frankly Music Chamber Series based in Milwaukee.

These opening weekend concerts are brought to you by Neil Kelly, and performances will take place on Friday, September 30 at 7:30pm and Saturday, October 1 at 2:00pm at Bend Church (formerly First United Methodist Church) in Downtown Bend. Seating is limited, so advance purchase is recommended. Friday evening ticket holders may join Mr. Almond at 6:45pm for a pre-concert talk about the Lipinski Stradivarius and the program.

Now in its ninth season, High Desert Chamber Music’s mission is to bring world class chamber music and musicians to Central Oregon. Tickets for all events are available through HDCM online, by phone, or in person at our office in Downtown Bend.
