Community Youth Artwork on Display at Scalehouse Gallery
All the Colors of HÚE: The Voices and Visions of Our Community’s Youth brings the creativity and perspectives of young artists to Scalehouse Gallery this September.
Presented by Hearts Unknown Education (HÚE), the exhibition runs through September 25, 2026, and features artwork created by students exploring creativity as a tool for expression, connection and self-discovery. Through drawing, painting, mixed media and other creative practices, the young artists transform personal experiences, emotions and perspectives into visual narratives.
HUE is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young people through what it calls “creative wellness.” HÚE provides a safe and caring environment where youth can participate in art, free expression, meditation, somatic breath work, music and dance. Through these experiences, the organization seeks to help young people develop their voices, connect with others and recognize the value of their individual talents and perspectives.
The exhibition celebrates the individuality of each student while highlighting the shared power of creativity to build confidence, belonging and connection. Each piece offers a glimpse into a young artist’s unique world, demonstrating how art can create space for exploration, reflection and communication.
The exhibition will be on view Wednesday through Saturday from 11am-4pm.
Scalehouse Gallery is a contemporary art space showcasing emerging and established artists whose work represents a broad range of identities and perspectives. The gallery is located in the Franklin Crossing building on the Tin Pan Alley side in Suite 138.
David Wachs Abstract Exhibit on Display at The Annex at Scalehouse
Bend artist David Wachs is showcasing a new collection of abstract works at The Annex at Scalehouse, on view now through October 30 in downtown Bend.
The exhibition features pieces that serve as visual records of Wachs’ experiences living outdoors and observing the natural world. Exploring composition, pattern and visual chaos, Wachs transforms those encounters into refined abstract works that reflect both a sense of place and the way people perceive their surroundings.
A Bend-based artist, Wachs is known for work inspired by the natural beauty and dynamic character of the Pacific Northwest. Blending traditional techniques with contemporary perspectives, his landscapes and intricate compositions explore the relationship between nature and human experience while inviting viewers to see familiar environments through a new lens.
The exhibition opened September 4, with an additional reception scheduled for October 2 from 5-7pm.
Located in the lobby of the Franklin Crossing Building, The Annex at Scalehouse is a community-centered exhibition space dedicated to showcasing two-dimensional work by emerging artists. The program provides artists with opportunities for exposure and experience while advancing Scalehouse’s mission of building community through arts and culture.
