A new chapter in that saga begins this month as the franchise returns to Marvel Comics to kick off a brand new continuity connected to J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens opening this December. With over a million copies of this premiere issue pre-ordered, it stands to become the biggest selling single comic book in the last 25 years.

 

Pegasus will host this free evening event for Star Wars fans of all ages in honor of the day, with fresh copies available along with many variant covers, a trivia contest, cosplay competition for the best Star Wars-themed outfits, giveaways, exclusive merchandise and a free raffle for geeky prizes.      

Marvel’s Star Wars #1, written by Jason Aaron (Thor, Original Sin) with art by John Cassaday (Astonishing X-Men, Captain America, Planetary), retails for $4.99 and begins a brand new adventure following the exploits of Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance during the time between the classic Star Wars films Episode IV: A New Hope and Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. The issue also includes several pages of full-color previews for Marvel’s other upcoming Star Wars titles: Princess Leia and Darth Vader. In addition to the regular edition of the comic, Pegasus will have unique alternate covers by artists Alex Ross, Joe Quesada, J. Scott Campbell and more, including a special Party Variant!

 

This exciting new Star Wars comic will be available for purchase when Pegasus opens at 11am on Wednesday, January 14, with the free release party starting at 6pm. Everyone in the store at that time will be entered in a raffle to win a rare variant cover for the issue, with special event pins and lithographs available for party attendees only.
