Rhiannon Giddens has made an iconic career out of stretching her brand of folk music, with its miles-deep historical roots, into just about every field imaginable. A founding member of the landmark Black string band Carolina Chocolate Drops, and the banjo-based supergroup Our Native Daughters, Giddens is as much a curator as a creator. Case and point, her multiple Grammy Awards, Pulitzer Prize, and lineup for the American Tunes: Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing tour featuring Mary Chapin Carpenter (Passionate Kisses, I Feel Lucky, He Thinks He’ll Keep Her), the inimitable Mavis Staples (You Are Not Alone, The Weight, We Get By) and Hurray For The Riff Raff (duo) (Jealous Guy, Blue Ridge Mountain, Alibi) who hit the stage this Saturday, June 27!
