Central Oregon Community College’s (COCC) Big Band Jazz group is performing concerts for the community on May 20, in Bend, and on May 21, in Redmond, both featuring Seattle-based tenor saxophonist and composer Steve Treseler. These are free concerts with donations welcome. Visit coccweb.com/bigbandjazz to learn more.
The Bend show is at 6pm on Saturday, May 20, at River’s Place, 787 NE Purcell Blvd. The Redmond show, the band’s official annual spring concert, is at 2pm on Sunday, May 21, at the Ridgeview High School theater.
“Steve Treseler is an innovative teaching artist and exceptional tenor saxophonist,” said Sarah Owen, band director. “We are excited to feature him on songs ranging from Count Basie to Radiohead. It will be an inspiring two days of music.”
Sponsored by COCC, Big Band Jazz has been a part of the Central Oregon jazz scene since the late 1970s. There are 19 musicians enrolled in the COCC performance class this term. For more information, contact Sarah Owen at firstname.lastname@example.org.
