BendBroadband’s Jazz at the Oxford Presents Darrell Grant Performing
Original Composition ‘The Territory’; Musical Exploration of Oregon

BendBroadband’s Jazz at the Oxford popular jazz series returns for the final shows this season as Darrell Grant featuring Marilyn Keller and Mike Horsfall take the stage.

“We are thrilled to have Darrell Grant return to the series and close out what has been a tremendous season, thanks to our sponsors and the support of the greater Bend community,” said Oxford Corporate’s Regional Vice-President of Operations, Ben Perle. “Darrell, with Marilyn Keller and Mike Horsfall, will be performing his original composition that explores his relationship with Oregon and the intersection of art, place and community. This will be a unique musical experience for our audiences.”

Darrell Grant has built an international reputation as a stellar pianist, skilled composer and committed educator. He has been performing for international audiences since 1988, accompanying the “who’s who” of jazz luminaries including Frank Morgan, Tony Williams, Roy Haynes, Donald Harrison, Brian Blade, Esperanza Spalding, Nicholas Payton, Greg Osby and many others.

Darrell has won numerous grants and awards and, in 2009, was inducted into the Jazz Society of Oregon’s Hall of Fame. In 2011, he was the first recipient of the Kamelia Massih Outstanding Faculty Prize in the Arts from Portland State University, where he is a Professor of Music and directs the Leroy Vinnegar Jazz Institute.

He returns to the BendBroadband’s Jazz at the Oxford stage to perform his original composition, “The Territory.” Joining him will be acclaimed vocalist Marilyn Keller and noted vibraphonist Mike Horsfall. Darrell’s piece was premiered at Chamber Music Northwest and subsequently performed at The Jazz Standard, the DiMenna Center in New York City and the Portland Jazz Festival.
