The exhibition explores the fascinating natural history, cultural significance and conservation efforts to protect sage grouse and their habitat. Under an unprecedented partnership including ranchers, researchers, conservation groups, and state and federal agencies – a sage grouse conservation plan is emerging that may stop or even reverse the decline. In addition to highlighting this work, the exhibit offers specific ways the public can directly support sage grouse conservation. In partnership with The Nature Conservancy.

PATAGONIA’S JUMBO WILD FILM TOUR COMING TO BEND

Coming to Bend on October 18th, 2015, Patagonia presents Jumbo Wild – a gripping, hour-long documentary film by Sweetgrass Productions that tells the true story of the decades-long battle over the future of British Columbia’s iconic Jumbo Valley. Set against a backdrop of incredible backcountry ski and snowboard footage, Jumbo Wild documents all sides of a divisive issue bringing the passionate local fight to protect the Jumbo Valley’s wilderness to life for the first time. Hosted by Patagonia Ambassador Steve House and Josh Dirksen.

EVIL DEAD THE MUSICAL ZOMBIE BLOOD DRIVE SCHEDULED

Evil Dead the Musical Zombie Blood Drive Scheduled for October 19 2015
The cast of Evil Dead the Musical will be on hand Monday October 19th from 1:30 to 6:30pm, hosting a blood drive for the American Red Cross and giving out tickets to the 2015 production of Evil Dead the Musical, which runs October 16 through Halloween. The event will be held at 2nd Street Theater, located at 220 NE Lafayette in Bend.
Speaking of blood, now in its 5th year of production, the campy zombie filled musical comedy, based on the Evil Dead cult movie classics of the 1980’s, goes through 65 gallons of fake blood per production. Evil Dead the Musical is the only musical known for having a Splatter Zone. The show has performed to sell out crowds and each Blood Donor will receive a pair of tickets to see the show.

EDWARD CURTIS EXHIBIT
A6 Studio and Gallery

A rare photography and print exhibit celebrating the life and work of Edward Curtis in Bend, Oregon from September 4 – October 31, 2015 at the A6 Gallery.
More than 50 original Edward Curtis photos and prints of Native American tribal members will be on display at the gallery 7-days a week. The exhibit is free to the public and guided tours are available for $6 with no reservation needed.
Collectors will have an opportunity to purchase prints from the collection on September 1, 2015. Collectors must pre-register before August 25 by emailing or calling A6.
“Curtis Fever” expands throughout Central Oregon with more events and exhibits focused on Edward Curtis including presentations from Christopher Cardozo, the nation’s top collector and expert, at the Tower Theatre and award-winning author Timothy Egan on his best-selling Edward Curtis biography, “Short Nights of the Shadow Catcher: The Epic Life and Immortal Photographs of Edward Curtis”. The High Desert Museum will feature a companion exhibit of his work from the museum’s own collection and present a screening of Curtis’ 1914 silent film. BendFilm will show the documentary “Edward S. Curtis and the North American Indians” as a prelude to the film festival.
