Four Artist Receptions Highlight Quilt Week at Makin’ it Local

Quilt Week is one of the most anticipated weeks of the year in Sisters, and Makin’ it Local is adding even more creativity to the celebration by hosting four consecutive Artist Receptions featuring nationally and regionally recognized artists unveiling new work created especially for Quilt Show Week.

As thousands arrive in Sisters for Quilter’s Affair and the Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show, Makin’ it Local is extending the celebration beyond quilts by showcasing artists whose work reflects the same appreciation for color, pattern, craftsmanship, and storytelling. The receptions are designed for both visitors and local residents, offering everyone the opportunity to experience another side of Oregon’s vibrant arts community while meeting the artists behind the work.

From Tuesday, July 7, through Friday, July 10, 2026, locals and visitors alike are invited to meet the artists, enjoy complimentary wine, refreshments, and light hors d’oeuvres, and experience new collections inspired by the beauty, color, and spirit of Oregon. Each reception will be held from 3-5:30pm.

Tuesday, July 7 – Jennifer O’Reilly

Makin’ it Local will debut new fine art prints from Jennifer O’Reilly’s original acrylic paintings. Known for her whimsical style and flowing interpretations of Oregon landscapes and the natural world, Jennifer’s work captures the joy and wonder found throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Wednesday, July 8 – Susan Porteous, Green Bird Press

Letterpress artist Susan Porteous brings her distinctive collection of quilt-inspired letterpress prints, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern design. Her beautifully printed works have become favorites among quilters, collectors, and lovers of handmade art.

Thursday, July 9 – Cheryl Chapman, Silly Dog Art Glass

2025 Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show poster artist Cheryl Chapman returns with her stunning reverse-enameled painted fused glass. Rich in color, detail, and craftsmanship, her work has become one of Makin’ it Local’s most anticipated Quilt Week traditions and continues to captivate collectors year after year. Cheryl will unveil three new fine art prints created especially for Quilt Show Week.

Friday, July 10 – Kathy Deggendorfer

One of Central Oregon’s most celebrated artists and a six-time Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show poster artist, Kathy Deggendorfer, will unveil five new fine art prints created especially for Quilt Show Week. Her vibrant interpretations of Central Oregon’s landscapes have become synonymous with the region and continue to delight collectors from around the world.

“Quilt Week is about bringing people together through creativity,” said Myrna Dow, owner of Makin’ it Local. “Whether you’ve traveled across the country for Quilt Week or you call Central Oregon home, these receptions offer a chance to meet remarkable Oregon artists, hear the stories behind their work, and discover artwork that celebrates the beauty and spirit of our state. We hope our gallery becomes a gathering place where locals and visitors connect through art, conversation, and community.”
