The High Desert Museum doors opened to the public on May 29, 1982, and this month, we invite you to celebrate our BIG milestone!

Join us Friday, May 27 at 6:30pm for the 40th Anniversary Community Celebration, a night of revelry as we unveil a brand new exhibit, enjoy good food and drink and more.

We’ll look back at 40 years of curiosity, inspiration, wonder and connection while we raise a glass to a young, Portland naturalist named Donald Kerr. He had a dream to build a museum that would “wildly excite and responsibly teach” about the vast region he loved.

You’ll have your first glimpse at a new exhibit that immerses you in a futuristic world of light and sound — Lair: Light and the Art of Stephen Hendee. Share your favorite Museum moments at the 40th Anniversary Reflection Station.

We look forward to celebrating this meaningful milestone with you!
